Island of Mysteries
Rhododendron Garden Screen Saver

"Rhodies" and their friends from the Pacific Northwest, with original music for piano and harp by a talented young musician. Multi-colored blooming trees line paths to quiet corners. Shot in the rain, when everything turns greener with anticipation.
Artist's Notes: The music is an original piece by a young man from New York, Eddie Regner. It's called "Island of Mysteries". Eddie's web site is: http://www.mp3.com/EddieRegner and you may encourage him at: EUR33@aol.com Eddie now has a page here, MIDIs by Eddie Regner.
The screen saver has 25 images, high resolution, displays beautifully on higher screen resolutions, and the file size is 3.45 meg. (High resolution images take up a little more space.) The image transitions and timing are all user-configurable, images may be set as wallpaper, and the wallpaper itself can be configured to change weekly, hourly or never. May be password protected. Lots of things to play with if you're trapped on the phone. One-click uninstall.
If you don't come from an area that has rhodies, you might wonder what's so special about them that they get their own garden. As a gardener, let me point out that I live in a gardening zone 5A. That means in the winter, it routinely hits 20 below, and often worse. We don't have annuals and perennials here. We have weeds, and stuff that isn't going to make it through the winter. We have only "winter-hardy rhododendrons" in this area, which is a small, stunted, frightened-looking bush that isn't going to live long enough to get past knee-high and spends the summer dropping leaves and worrying about it's own mortality. These rhodies come from a climate where God looked out the window and said, "Hmm, good place for rododendrons." In the Seattle area, they have no natural enemies, and people plant them with a backhoe. They're huge, healthy, and express themselves by blooming in colors that have to be seen to be believed.
